1. REGISTER

LICENSING COURSES FOR NEW REFEREES ARE NOW POSTED

Registration is performed online through U.S. Soccer's Learning Center .  There is a $65 registration fee to complete the required course work so be sure to have ready your credit or debit card when registering.

NOTE - If you are 18 years of age or older, it is required that you complete the U.S. Soccer NCSI Background Check.  The cost of the background check is $30 and it is valid for 2 years.

Certification to be a Grassroots Referee is done through a combination of online course work and in-person field experience.  Your registration for the Grassroots - First-time Referee course will include both.

The online learning must be completed before attending the course's associated on-field experience session.

3. LEARN IN-PERSON

The In-Person portion of a student's coursework includes practical exercises for aspiring candidates wishing to become U.S. Soccer Grassroots Referees.  The goal is to prepare the candidates by offering a SAFE, FUN, reality-based, holistic experience preparing the referee candidate for their first game.
